Still in the running…

Squad 13 Large ThumbAn uninspiring performance or a job well done? After last night’s draw against Ukraine in Kiev’s Olympic Stadium we march onwards to the final two games against Montenegro and Poland. At top of the group and only one point ahead of our rivals there is still a lot of work to be done before we pack our bags for the sunny shores of the Copacabana. So where does that leave us…..

Well in the words of Garry Lineker ‘there’s no in-between – you’re either good or bad. We were in-between’. This could most definitely be applied to England’s performance against Ukraine. However, will that deter us in our effort to pull up our socks and get stuck into the remaining games…I truly hope not. As English as we are we need to get behind our team and support them on our nations quest!

We must now be positive in the hope that in a month’s time we have the likes of Rooney, Welbeck and Sturridge gracing the field again. We don’t need ‘goldenballs’ just golden goals.

So to Wembley we go with Hodgson’s echoing reminder that ‘we have fate in our hands’. And if we do get the chance to pack our bags for Brazil then we must be good……. in fact better than good and not just in-between!
